Mary Eliabeth Payne Lighton

Mary Elizabeth Lighton, 74, of Owensboro, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Seaton Hospital in Evansville. Born in Daviess County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ignatius, Sr. and Mary Hallie Payne, she was a member of the Catholic faith, worked for many years at Oneys, and later at Shoe Stop. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose time and interest was committed to her family and friends. Her husband, Paul Jerome Lighton, died in 1981.

Survivors include her son, Paul Jerome Lighton, Jr. and his wife Pamela, of Aledo, IL, her daughter, Shelby Lighton, of Owensboro, her grandchildren, Brandy Lighton of Muscatine, IA, Joshua Lighton of Aledo, IL, and Brooklyn Payne and Hunter Gibson, both of Owensboro; her brother, James Payne and her sister, Margaret Terry, both of Owensboro, and her brother-in-law, Griffith Lighton, Sr., of Louisville.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 12 noon Thursday. Prayers will be at Wednesday. Burial will be in Cemetery Adath Israel.
