Mary Lewis Kurre

Mary Lewis Kurre, of Owensboro passed away Friday, January 26, 2007 at her home. Born August 29, 1916 in Central City, Mrs. Kurre was the daughter of the late Dr. Floyd K. and Ethel Heltsley Foley; was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and former elementary school teacher and taught at the Wendell Foster Center; was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active in the Mary Lou Phillips Sunday School Class and the Road Runners; and was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph Henry Kurre in 1968 and a daughter, Mary Margaret Kurre in 1952.

She is survived by sons, Dr. Joseph H. (and Barbara Sue) Kurre, Jr. of Bristol, TN and John T. (and Edna ) Kurre of Baltimore, MD; daughters, Martha Kurre House of Owensboro and Jane Kurre Elliott of Lexington; grandchildren, Elizabeth Burriss, Jennifer Kurre, Kathryn Kurre, Bryan Elliott, and Alan Elliott; two great-grandsons; and a sister, Julia Barbour of Owensboro.

Services are 12 noon Monday, January 29, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial following in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 P.M. on Sunday, January 28, 2007 and after 10 A.M. on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church or the charity of the donors choice.
