Mary Lois Knott

Mary Lois Knott, 98, of the Carmel Home, formerly of 3025 Knott Road, Sorgho, Ky. passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Carmel Home. She was born on March 3, 1912 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late George Paul and Georgia Vowels Mattingly. She was the oldest living member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, talking with friends on the telephone, and especially she loved it when family, friends, and neighbors dropped in for a visit and stayed to share in a meal with her.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Robert I. "Nace" Knott on June 28, 1965, brothers, Hulin Mattingly, Joseph A. Mattingly, and G. P. Mattingly, a son-in-law, Richard L. O'Bryan in 1985, and a granddaughter, Dana O'Bryan in 1985.

She is survived by three sons, Robert I. Knott, Jr. and his wife Terry of Sorgho, William Knott and his wife Mary Ann of Sorgho, and James R. Knott and his wife Beverly of Owensboro, two daughters, Martha O'Bryan Froehlich and her husband Bill of Owensboro and Nancy Haire of Sorgho, 26 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a sister, Thelma Massie of Owensboro.

Services will be 12 Noon Saturday, January 15, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Father Mark Buckner celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be at 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
