Mary Kathleen Kirk

Mary Kathleen Millay Kirk, 96, of Owensboro, died August 6, 2013 at Owensboro Center. She was born February 10, 1917 in Daviess County to the late Gordon and Cora Payne Millay. Mary was of the Catholic Faith and a member of St Pius X Catholic Church. She was an excellent quilt maker, loving but stern mother of eight children and was always praying for them.

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Kirk, four sons, a sister and 4 brothers.

Surviving are her sons, Jackie E. (Dorothy) Kirk of Eddyville, James D. (Leveta) Kirk of Lewisprot, and Roger D. (Dottie) Kirk of Owensboro; a daughter, Mary Helen (Eddie) Payne of Owensboro; a brother, Gordon Millay of Whitesville; sisters, Clara Mae McDaniel of Whitesville and Helena Colyer of Owensboro; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St Pius X with Fr. Richard Meredith presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 PM and 9 to 10:30 AM Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Prayers will be Friday at 7 PM
