Mary Loretta Johnston, 90, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born October 18, 1933 in Daviess County to the late Albert and Anna Hinsey Goetz. Mary retired from Kenway Chemical after 19 years, had worked at General Electric for 10 years, and at the Mount St. Joseph Infirmary. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Parish. Mary enjoyed making ceramics, and quilting with friends at Immaculate. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Frank A. Johnston, Sr. in 2017; a daughter, Rebecca Bowman in 2021; two granddaughters, Victoria Johnston in 2018 and Ashley Turner in 2019; a sister, Barbara Lashbrook and a brother, Herman Goetz.
Surviving are a daughter, Fran Limbach and husband Keith of Taylor Mill; a son, Frank A. Johnston, Jr. and wife Amy of Charlestown, Indiana; five grandchildren, Travis Johnston (Shabri) of Owensboro, Chloe Weaver (Danny) of Indianapolis, Katie Hasson (Michael) of Highland Heights, Kelsey McCloskey (Josh) of Edgewood, and Jared Limbach of Newport; eight great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Marvin Goetz of Owensboro, Mike Goetz (Sue) of St. Joseph, Eileen Fulkerson (Joe) of Hartford, Frances Gaddis of Sorgho, Linda Powers of Owensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, May 14, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM with prayers at 6:30 PM Monday and from 8:30 AM until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
