Mary Veda Huff, 89, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Heartford House. She was born on December 13, 1924 in Hancock Co. to the late Elmer and Floe Nette Stephens Ashworth. Veda was retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. She was a charter member of Wing Ave. Baptist Church for over 50 years, and had recently moved her membership to Macedonia Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #480 in Hawesville. She loved working in her yard and especially loved spending time with her great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Victor "Vic" Huff on June 12, 1998, her brothers, J. W., Gene, and Steven Ashworth and a sister, Bonnie Ashworth, and a brother-in-law, James Thomas.
Surviving is her son, Jerry Wayne Huff of Owensboro, a daughter, Sharon Faye and husband John Barry Aud of Owensboro, a grandson, Wayne Alan and wife Theresa Wilson of Owensboro, two great grandchildren, Jonathan Wayne Wilson and fianc Jessica Sparks and Ashley Nicole Wilson, all of Owensboro, a sister, Shirley Thomas of Plano, TX, two sisters-in-law, Susan Ashworth of Jacksonville, FL and Maxine Ashworth of Hawesville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 31 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Jerry Tooley officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P. M. Thursday and after 8:30 A. M. Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Johnson and his staff and Dr. Tamberly McCoy and the staff of the Heartford House for all the care and compassion provided for their mother.
