Mary Virginia Duke Houston

Mary Virginia Duke Houston, 89, of Owensboro, formerly of 1812 Westview Dr., passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Owensboro Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on October 15, 1921 in McLean Co., Ky. to the late John W. and Virgie Petrie Duke. She was a homemaker and had worked at S. W. Andersons and Bacons Dept. Stores. She was a member of Seven Hills Baptist Church and enjoyed raising a garden, and spending time with and cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary Virginia was a good friend to everyone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Houston on March 12, 1997 and two brothers, Jack and James Duke.

Surviving are a son, Stephen T. Houston and wife Marcia of Sorgho and a daughter, Linda Sanford and husband Jerry of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Jeff Sanford and wife Misty, Todd Houston and wife Erica, and Clay Houston, all of Owensboro, Mike Sanford and wife Jean of Knoxville, TN, and Stephanie Houston of Nashville, TN, ; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Sanford, Emily S. Pinkston, Payton Sanford, Dylan Sanford, and Hadley Houston; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 30, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 12 Noon Thursday at the funeral home.
