Mary Bernardette Higdon-Roberts, 94, of Owensboro, left us to go be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky,
Mary was born December 6, 1921 in Daviess County to the late Louis I. Higdon and Elizabeth Stella Lanham-Higdon. She was a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and had formerly attended Blessed Mother Catholic Church.
She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother, a strong woman of faith, loving sister and friend.
Mary loved sewing, cooking and being with family and friends. She enjoyed her years of being a member of the Ramblers, a seniors group who gave musical performances to senior citizens living in nursing homes.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband; Joseph E. Roberts; daughter, Virginia D. Lambert; sisters, Elizabeth Betty C. Royal-Austin, Theresa Jean Payne Marking, and Virginia R Higdon; and grandson, Christopher Duane Cecil.
She is survived by her children, Patricia A. (Martin) Cecil, Wanda Marie (Paul) Clements and Mary Angela (Ralph) Stargardt.
12 Grandchildren; Joy England, Joe Lambert, Dana Craig, Dawn Tignor, Damon Cecil, Darren Cecil, Carey Stein, Kim Alexander, Paul Clements, Candy Pankey, Manda Roberts and Melanie White.
27 Great Grandchildren; Jennifer Fox, Amber Collings, Colten Collings, Justice England, Loren England, Katie Stein, Caleb Stein, Morgan Alexander, Brandon Alexander, Johnathan Alexander, Olivia Clements, Lauren Clements, Ethan Clements, Ben Pankey, Blane Pankey, Cali Pankey, Mia Roberts, Ayla Roberts, William White, Benjamin White, Jude Cecil, Claire Cecil, Vivian Cecil, Ashten Tignor, Addison Tignor, Hannah Tignor, and Aaron Tignor.
6 Great-Great Grandchildren; Julie Wright, Jacob Wright, Josie Wright, Jayden Fox, Blain Presley and Mya Christian.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 pm until 8 pm Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 8:30 am Saturday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 7 pm Friday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
