Mary Edna Hedges

July 21, 1919 — March 16, 2009

Mary Edna Hedges, 89, of the Carmel Home, was called home by her Lord on Monday, March 16, 2009, where she will be reunited with her husband, Kenneth, who died March 26, 1992, and her parents, Alex and Adelaide Dickerson of Nelson County, and her nine brothers and sisters. She came to Owensboro in 1948 as a Lab Technician and retired from the Owensboro Daviess County Hospital. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, where she was active in the choir, the Alter Society, and was very devoted to the Blessed Mother. She loved singing, working with her flowers, knitting and quilting.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Colette (Bobby) Reisz of Owensboro; four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren; Heather (James) Ashby with Kyle Austin of Owensboro, Kristina (Glenn) Thompson with Payton Bryce and Brooklyn Reise of Lexington, Courtney Reisz with Jacob Robert and Michelle Grace of Hartford, and Elizabeth (Aaron) Coots with Dayne Remington and Sawyer Reisz of Dry Ridge, KY; Mary Edna and Kenneth had two adopted children, Joseph Hedges with Valerie, Joshua and Kylee, and Marian (Jerry) Stinnett with Janine. She also has many nieces and nephews and their extended families, all of whom she cared for very much.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, and after 8:30 AM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303.
