Mary J. "Bobbie" Head

Mary J. "Bobbie" Head, 89, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Carmel Home. She was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late William and Mary Jessie Mattingly French.

Mrs. Head had been a stenographer for Farmer's Co Op, worked in the office at Modern Laundry and Cleaners, was employed at General Electric and retired from S.W. Anderson's Department Store where she worked in the children's department. Bobbie was also a long-time member of St. Stephen Cathedral and Blessed Mother Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, cross-stitching, golfing and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hayden Edward Head in 2011; a son, Michael E. Head; a sister, Martha Louise Sims; and two infant brothers.

Mrs. Head is survived by daughters, Marnita Strehl (Pat) of Louisville and Julie Castlen (William Sherill) of Maceo; a son, Donald "Donnie" E. Head (Janet); daughter-in-law, Debbie Head; grandchildren, D.J. Head (Rhonda), Jason Head, Scott Head, Angela Murray (Colby), Nicole Stoll (Mike), Rachel Metzger (Jay), Matthew Strehl (Elizabeth), Breanna Dant (Brent), and Brandon Castlen; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 30 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Clark will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, January 29 from 3 until 7 PM, with prayers at 6 PM, and after 10 AM Tuesday, January 30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
