Mary Patricia "Patsy" Greenwell

Mary Patricia "Patsy" Greenwell, 72, of Owensboro, formerly of Sorgho, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born November 28, 1945 in Daviess County to the late Tom and Maudie Greenwell. Patsy was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was the oldest of 11 children. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Greenwell on June 21, 2005.
She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crocheting blankets, reading Debbie McComber books, painting by numbers, and various other crafts. She was an avid storyteller and was always interested in the lives of people around her.
The family moved her from the country to the city, but could never take the country ways from her. She still conserved water in various ways, stockpiled food in case someone didn't come to take her to the grocery, and worried about the ice and snow. As Jana Powers said in her Facebook tribute Friday night, she still always knew what side her bread was buttered on. Patsy was a loving soul who lived a simple life and loved her family.
Surviving are her brothers and sisters, Paula Ward (Don) of Whitesville, Fred Greenwell (Connie) of Rome, Donna Wedding of Owensboro, Cindy Johnson (Kenny) of Minnesota, Monica Wilson (Jerry) of Calhoun, Diane Roberts (Tim) of Friendly Village, Rita Adams of Owensboro, Roch Greenwell (Karen) of Owensboro, and Dan Greenwell (Beth) of Stanley, a sister-in-law, Nancy Greenwell of Owensboro, two Aunts, Betty Greenwell of Yelvington and Ann Jenkins of Scottsville, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Funeral Mass for Patsy Greenwell will be Noon Tuesday, November 20, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
