Mary Elizabeth "Maudie" Greenwell, 89, of Sorgho, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011. She was born on September 23, 1921 in Daviess Co. to the late Paul G. and Josephine Hardesty Clark. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts, drawing, flower and vegetable gardening, canning, music and singing, and playing the guitar. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for her family, and visiting all her friends. She also enjoyed going to the Mt. St. Joseph Picnic each year, watching Lawrence Welk Shows, and reading especially "Country Living and Birds and Blooms" magazines. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Greenwell on March 9, 1998, a son, Ronnie Greenwell on June 21, 2005, grandsons, Nathan Greenwell and Brian Greenwell, a great granddaughter, Ginea Johnson, and brothers and sisters, Lorine Kelly, J. L. Clark, Donald Clark, and Lyman Clark.
Surviving are seven daughters, Patsy Greenwell, Donna Rose Wedding, and Rita Adams and husband Max, all of Owensboro, Paula Ward and husband Donnie of Whitesville, Cindy Johnson and husband Kenny of New Prague, MN, Monica Wilson and husband Jerry of Calhoun, and Diane Roberts and husband Tim of Friendly Village, three sons, Fred Greenwell and wife Connie of Rome, KY, Dan Greenwell and wife Beth of Stanley, and Roch Greenwell and wife Karen of Sorgho, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Greenwell of Owensboro, 28 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Betty Greenwell of Maceo, and Ann Jenkins of Scottsville.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 15, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with burial following in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 8:00 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with the prayers at 5:00 P.M. Sunday.
