Mary Helena Gordon

Mary Helena Gordon, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Owensboro Place. She was born on August 1, 1920 in Jefferson County, Kentucky to the late Harry Baumgarten, Sr. and Lena Fritz Baumgarten.

Mrs. Gordon was a longtime member of St. Stephen Cathedral. She served as bookkeeper for the family business, Davis Distributors, for 47 years. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. "This is for Gran because Gran loves me and I love Gran. And that means she is my best friend."(Amy W., circa 1974, at the age of 6.)

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wayne P. Gordon in 2004 and a sister, Martha Lauzon.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Wayne Wedeking (Ken) of Louisville, KY; a son Mark Kyler Gordon (Ruth) of Owensboro, KY; 5 grandchildren, Amy Beard (Tim), Adam Wedeking (Marlow),Sam, Mary Jo and Elizabeth Gordon; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Harry E. Baumgarten, Jr. of Owensboro, KY, Dr. Joseph Baumgarten of Ames, IA, Dr. James E. Baumgarten of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, Dr. Richard S. Baumgarten of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and a sister, Charlotte Baumgarten of Owensboro, KY.

A memorial mass will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 20 at Blessed Sacrament Chapel 602 Sycamore Street. Immediately following, a luncheon will be held at Blessed Sacrament Hall. Friends may visit after 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church.
