Mary George Rumage Freels, 103, of Owensboro passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on December 19, 2025, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born in Daviess County to the late Marion William and Alma Marie Murphy Rumage.
Mary George retired from GE after decades of service. She attended St. Frances Academy and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph. She was a faithful member of St Peter of Alcantara, then Lourdes Catholic Church, and most recently has been a member of St. Martin. Mary George was a servant of the Lord. She loved her Catholic faith along with having a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. She spent many years volunteering at the Carmel Home. She could always be found at morning daily Mass and praying the Rosary before. She treasured her family and was often in the kitchen preparing delicious home cooked meals. She loved to sew and created beautiful pieces including her families’ clothes and doll clothes. Her family will always remember her kind heart, welcoming smile, and one of a kind laugh.
Along with her parents, Mary George is preceded in death by her brother, Secunda Maloney Rumage; her sisters, Mary Patricia, Roberta, Margaret, Virginia Clary, and Geraldine Gill; sons-in-law, Vincent Hayden and Billy Judd; daughter-in-law, Jackie Freels.
Those left to cherish Mary George’s memory are her daughters, Linda Hayden and Mary Patricia “Pat” Judd; her sons, Joe Freels, Philip (Pam) Freels, Mark (Judy) Freels, David Freels, and Michael “Pete” Freels; her grandchildren, Cheryl (Mack) Pryor, Rich (Jennifer) Hayden, Kristie (Darrell) DeLoach, Matt (Brandi) Hayden, Laurie Judd, Danny (Kerri) Freels, Jennifer (Frankie) Richardson, Chelsea (Jordan) Coomes, and Natalie (Jonathan) Hall; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 22 at St. Martin Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at St Martin Catholic Church.
