Mary Helen Francis, 76, of Martinez, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, November 9, 2001, at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, GA. The McLean County native worked as a bookkeeper with Boy Scouts of America for 16 years and with the Henderson-Union-Webster Development Council. She recieved her Associates Degree in Business from Henderson Community College where she was also the assistant registrar. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia Woman's Club and Columbia Democratic Woman's Club. She enjoyed needlepoint and collecting antiques. Her husband, Thomas Houston Francis, died in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Paul Thomas Francis Sr. of Martinez; a daughter, Ellen Francis Zornes of Columbia; and four grandchildren.
Services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society.
