Mary Alline Dunaway

Mary A. Dunaway, 82, of Maceo passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Kindred-Hillcrest in Owensboro. Mrs. Dunaway was born in Tischomingo, Mississippi. Her family moved to Marvel, AR where she met and married Lester Dunaway when she was barely 16 years old, a marriage that spanned 59 years until his death in 2007. She was a member of both Yelvington Baptist Church and the Ensor Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Mrs. Dunaway had worked for Kentucky Electronics as a supervisor in the tube department and in the hospital cafeteria. She was very community minded, having served as a poll worker for over 20 and as secretary of the Yelvington Fire Department when it was formed. She pitched softball and bowled well into her 50's, was an enthusiastic traveler, and enjoyed crocheting and reading. Mrs. Dunaway was a member of the Maceo Homemakers Club and the Owensboro CB Club with the handle "Kate". In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Puckett and Mertie Rutherford Puckett and 5 siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Ron Dunaway (Carla) and Ken Dunaway (Rachel) all of Owensboro; her daughter Carla Sue Estes (Dean) of Lewisport; 11 grandchildren, Chad and Jeff Estes, Steve and Wesley Dunaway, Chase, Curt, and Somer Dunaway, Ian Clark, and Jason, Jared and Laura Bradley and 15 great grandchildren; her sister Melba "Teenie" Lumpkin of Owensboro; her brother, Clellon Puckett of Marvel, AR; and her sister-in-law Gwen Haynes of Potosi, MO. Her family very much appreciates that care extended to her by the staff at Kindred-Hillcrest.

The funeral service for Mrs. Dunaway will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
