Mary Lee Westerfield Dickens, 87, of Owensboro, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. The Daviess Co. native was born July 17, 1919 to the late Jake Rowe and Amy Hagan Westerfield. Mrs. Dickens was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was very active. She also retired from General Electric after 30 years of service.
In addition to her parents, those preceding her in death include her husband, Joseph Roy Dickens and her sons, Roy Lee Dickens and Charles Franklin Dickens.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Sue Dickens of Owensboro, Kerry Jean and John Hall of Philpot, and Gail and Mike Martin of Somerst; KY, her sons and daughters-in-law, James Barney and Pat Dickens, Terry Joe and Jessie Myrle Dickens, and Jack Ray and Debbie Dickens, all of Owensboro; her sisters, Lucy Morgan of Owensboro and Imogene Whittaker of West Louisville, KY; her brother, James Homer Westerfield of Owensboro, twenty three grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Fr. John Meredith officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Whitesville, KY. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4 with prayers at 5:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, December 5 from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home.
