Mary Drusie Coomes

May 7, 1905 — March 4, 2001

Mrs. Mary Drusie Coomes, of Owensboro, died Sunday March 4, 2001 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. Mrs. Coomes, the daughter of the late Phillip and Mary Hayden Clark, was born in West Louisville, Kentucky. Her husband, Joseph Herman Coomes, preceded her in death in 1947. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Ruth Coomes in 1929.

Mrs. Coomes was retired from Ken-Rad and General Electric Company after 39 years. She was the last survivor of the 1923 West Louisville Girls High School Championship Basketball Team. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and a past member of the Alter Society.

Surviving Mrs. Coomes are six children, Thomas H. Coomes, Sr., Joseph ''Bucky'' Coomes, Donald D. Comes and Ronald G. Coomes all of Owensboro, Kentucky, Joyce Alvey of Tell City, Indiana and Jane Rowland of Louisville, Kentucky, 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren and her sister Ann Romain of Owensboro, Kentucky.
