Mary Mendenhall Chalfant

Mary Mendenhall Chalfant, 90, of Owensboro passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN. Born August 23, 1916 in Wells County, IN, Mrs. Chalfant was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Jacobs Mendenhall; was a graduate of Ball State Teachers College; taught school for many years in Wells County and retired from the Owensboro City School System; and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Womans Club, Homemaker Club and local, state and national teacher associations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Senior Page Chalfant in 1980; a sister, Frances Clark; and a nephew, Barry Clark.

Survivors are great nieces and nephews including, Diana Dudley, Susan Carroll, Kathy Gutting, Aaron Clark, and Brett Clark; a brother-in-law, J.C. Chalfant; and several great-great-nephews.

Services are 1 P.M. Monday, July 2, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Carroll officiating followed by entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Presbyterian Church.
