Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Cecil, 88, of the Carmel Home in Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 to be with our Savior. She was born May 24, 1927 in Owensboro, the daughter of the late Tilman W. and Eloise Higdon Fogle. During her life, she worked for Grant's Jewelry Store, the Dentist, Dr. Embry, and Taylor Drugs from which she retired. Afterwards, she volunteered at Owensboro Medical Health System, the McCauley Clinic, and the Riverpark Center. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and helped with many of the parish activities. She enjoyed playing cards, camping on the river, square dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Louis Cecil on April 16, 2015, a sister, Martha Curry, a brother, William Fogle, a son, Keith Joseph Cecil on July 15, 2015, a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Cecil on December 20, 2007, and a great grandson, Andrew Cooper Cecil in 2011.
Liz is survived by her daughters, Suzzanne Fazio and husband Bob of Owensboro, Cindy O'Bryan and husband Tony of Newburgh, IN, sons, Mike Cecil and wife Sheila of Newburgh, Randall Cecil of LaGrange, Steve Cecil and wife Donna of Owensboro, Tim Cecil and wife Janie of Philpot, and Kirk Cecil and wife Rita of Tell City, IN. She was also blessed with grandchildren, Sheri Taylor, Chad Fazio, Danyal Butcher, Toni O'Bryan, Tricia Julian, Kevin Cecil, Julie Antey, Jonathan Cecil, Teresa Jones, Misty Tindall, Natasha Nugent, Shane Cecil, Dakota Cecil, Tara Cecil, Jennifer Cecil, and Ryan Haycox, and 25 great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 29, at Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and from 8:30-9:15 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
