Mary Joan Cecil, 75, of Owensboro, passed away February 5, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born August 23, 1941 to the late Herbert and Mary Hamilton. Joan was a scalper operator at Commonwealth Aluminum and retired in 1998. She was a faithful woman who found strength in God. Joan enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and most of all, spending time with her family. She and her husband, Joseph, were members of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Joan is preceded in death by her brothers, Frances Hamilton, Jamie Hamilton and Harold Hamilton and a sister, Dorothy Hardesty.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Cecil; daughters, Jeanie Wedding (Joe) and Donna Vincent (Steve); step-children, Jody Cecil, Jackie Shown and Kathy Warren; grandchildren, Amanda, Joey, Alyssa, Nicholas; step-grandchildren, Logan, Lindsey, Mindy, Dustin and Samantha; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Ashley; six step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alan Hamilton, Kenneth Hamilton, Don Hamilton; sisters, Jeanette Dillingham, Shirl Snyder, Jane Lanham and Betty Johnson,
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and 8:30 - 9:30 am Wednesday. Prayers will begin at 7:30 p.m.
