Mary Louise Cecil

Mary Louise "Easie" Cecil, 84, of Owensboro, formerly of West Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born October 4, 1930 in Union Co., to the late John Gordon and Mary Allie Greenwell Wathen. She was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Catholic Church. For many years, she was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Easie graduated from the former Mount St. Joseph Junior College in 1950 and had taught kindergarten at West Louisville Elementary School and also substituted in the Catholic School System. She was a member of the Owensboro Area Quilters Guild and the McLean Co. Homemakers. She helped establish the Runaway Quilters at Mount St. Joseph. She also was preceded in death by great grandchildren, Patrick and Aidan Cecil, and her sister, Mickey Moore.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Tommy Cecil, three daughters, Carolyn Sue Cecil of St. Louis, MO, Mary Lou Storm and husband Bob of Maceo, and Diane Bowers and husband Tom of Owensboro, four sons, Gary and wife Imelda Cecil of St. Joseph, John and wife Davena Cecil of Owensboro, Alan and wife Karen Cecil of Greenwood, IN, and Dale and wife Lisa Cecil of Owensboro, 24 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two brothers, Leonard Wathen of Bedford, IN and Gordon Ray Wathen of Old Hickory, TN.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 14, at Immaculate Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 11:00 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 7:30 P.M. Thursday.

Easie was known for her wonderful chocolate chip cookies, her beautiful handmade quilts, and the love she had for all her family. The 64 years that Tommy and Easie were married were the best years of their lives.
