Mary Corda Carrico

March 25, 1922 — April 20, 2001

Sister Mary Corda Carrico, 79, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, of Maple Mount, Kentucky, died April 20, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was in her 60th year of religious life; she entered the Ursuline community August 14, 1941.

Born in Bardstown, Sister Mary Corda was the daughter of the late J. B. and Alma Bell Carrico. She taught in elementary and secondary schools in Knottsville, Waverly, Peonia, Louisville, Paducah, St. Francis, and Fredericktown in Kentucky; and in Wilhelmina, Mo., and Waterflow, N.M. At Brescia College she was director of physical plant/purchasing and administrative director of the Speech and Hearing Clinic. At the time of her death, she was director of central purchasing at Mount Saint Joseph. She enjoyed family celebrations, reading, and crossword puzzles, and above all, helping others.

Survivors include one brother, James H. Carrico of Louisville; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel, in Maple Mount. Burial will be in the Convent Cemetery in Maple Mount. Visitation is 1-3 P.M. at Brescia University Chapel and after 4:00 p.m. at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel. A Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
