Mary Jane Blandford, 76, of Philpot, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at her home. She was born November 27, 1940 in Daviess Co. to the late William Wallace and Sophia Kaelin O'Bryan. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy. Mary Jane was a member of SS. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church for over 50 years and greatly appreciated the gift of Faith and the Sacraments. She loved her parish family as they praised and sang together. She attended daily Mass as often as possible. Mary Jane had served as a choir member, a sponsor for the R.C.I.A. program, a Eucharist minister, and visited the sick and shut ins. She was a member of the Legion of Mary for 20 yearsand served as President for two terms.
Mary Jane was a lifelong Democrat, proud member of Union Local #6469, United Steelworkers of America, worked in accounting at Green River Steel Corp. for 26 years, and retired from the Owensboro Community College. She enjoyed family holidays, friends, and all her neighbors, especially the Williamson family, who took her under their wing for many years. She was an artist and enjoyed wildflowers, the moon, all life, nature, and the trips to the Smokey Mountains with her husband Don.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jacquelyn O'Bryan Greenwell.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Don Blandford, a sister, Beverly Smith and husband Paul of West Louisville, one niece, Glenna Jo Greenwell of Owensboro, five nephews, Bill Greenwell of Owensboro, David Greenwell of Denver, CO, John Smith and Michael Smith, both of Owensboro, and Rev. Brad Smith of Portland, Jamaica, brother-in-law, Tom (Helen) Blandford, and sisters-in-law, Diane (Byron) Lane, Julia (Nick) Graziano, and Doris Blandford.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 14, at SS Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Monday with prayers at 6:30 P.M. and from 8:30-9:30 A.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
