Mary Louise Birkhead

Mary Louise Birkhead, 79, of Owensboro died at her home Friday, May 18, 2007. She was born in Owensboro on October 8, 1927 to the late Claude and Rena Wilson Gibbs. Mrs. Birkhead was of the Baptist faith and she retired from General Electric after forty-two years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Birkhead, Jr.

Survivors include her special nieces that she raised, Betty Sue Stowers and her husband Andrew, of Owensboro, Theresa Lynn Wilson and her husband Wayne, of Owensboro; her great nieces, Madison Louise Stowers and Ashley Nicole Wilson; her great nephews, Hunter Thomas Stowers and Jonathan Wayne Wilson; her brother, Claude Ellis Gibbs of Owensboro; and her sisters, Mae Hamilton of Owensboro, Josephine Wells of Dallas, TX, Catherine Whitsett of Owensboro, and Elizabeth Ann Snyder of Dallas, TX, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Shouse officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 and again on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
