Mary Bernadette "Momsy" Bickwermert, 81, of Owensboro, went home to the Lord Saturday, May 30, 2009. She was born in Owensboro on September 19, 1927 to the late Edward and Mary Ann Harrington.
Mary's passions were serving the Lord, and being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, gardening, china painting, and reading. She was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, an eleven year member of the Herb Society, she volunteered at the Help Office for 23 years, Ladies Auxilliary of Knights of Columbus Council #817, taught CCD Religous Education at St. Pius X, volunteered for the Women's Resident Encounter Christ Weekends, was active in Cursillo. She was a past member of St. Pius X parrish, and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of Thruston Fire Department.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Eugene S. Bickwermert, children; Sheila (Bill) Kyle, Agnes (Les) Allen of Louisville, Ky., Steve Bickwermert of Montana, Mary (and the late Ben) Salmon, Gregg (Julie) Bickwermert of Texas, Chris (Ruthie) Bickwermert, Maria (Mike) Osowicz, Joe (Debbie) Bickwermert, Pat Bickwermert, Tom Bickwermert, an adopted daughter; Valeria Bickwermert and 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren,a sister; Agnes Jeannie Harrington, and a brother; Norman (Mildred) Harrington.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Sts.Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Carl McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Prayers will be at 6:15 p.m. Monday evening. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Right to Life.
