Mary Ruth Ball

Ruth Waltrip Ball, 99, (formerly of Owensboro) passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 in Kingsport, TN. Born August 6, 1907 in McLean County, Mrs. Ball was the daughter of the late Charles and Georgia Anna Sutton Waltrip; was secretary at West Louisville Elementary School and Daviess County Junior High School and worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Calhoun; was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her husband William Alonzo Ball in 1988; sisters, Lorene Hodgin and Helen Comer , and a brother, Edwin Waltrip.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy (and Fred) Lawrence of Kingsport; a son, Dr. Don (and Vonda) Ball of Auburn, AL; grandchildren, Kelly Ball, Allison Ball May, Byron Lawrence, Kenneth Lawrence, and Donna Lawrence Carver; three great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 P.M. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
