Mary L. Baker

Mary Louise (Wiesman) Baker, 94, formerly of Owensboro, passed away January 20, 2013 at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa. She was born May 6, 1918 to Martin and May (Lamar) Wiesman in Daviess County, Kentucky.

Mary was an alumnus of Owensboro High School and Owensboro Business College. She retired as secretary of Daviess Co. Middle School.

She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Owensboro where she participated in the choir, hand bell choir, and numerous church activities. Mary was a supporting member of the Owensboro Symphony and a volunteer at the hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R. Burns Baker; her son, Tracy Hardin Baker; and siblings Anita L. Crabtree, Evelyn R. Wells, Anna M. West and Martin Wiesman.

Mary is survived by her children, Anita Louise Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Rodney "Butch" Baker of Ames, Iowa; her grandchildren, Bradley B. Baker of Marshall, Texas, Dr. Amy L. Vincent of Nevada, Iowa, and Patrick "Will" Baker of Dallas, Texas; two great-granddaughters; her siblings, William L. Wiesman and Martine Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Saturday, January 26 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Lori Keller Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday after Noon at the funeral home.
