Mary Emma Lovell Alsup, 89, of Heartland Villa in Lewisport, earned her angel wings, Monday, June 20, 2016 at Heartland Villa. She was born August 10, 1926 in Drakesboro to the late William and Caroline Blythe Lovell. She was of the Christian faith and had worked in food service at Gabe's Restaurant. She loved the churches she attended, her family, especially her grandchildren, cooking, and coloring pictures. Also she loved traveling, watching her grandchildren playing their ballgames, and feeding the squirrels at the park. In 1990, she received the "Carrier of the Year" award from the Messenger-Inquirer. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Alsup in 1992 and a son-in-law, Gerald Payne in 2006.
Surviving are her children, Joseph William Alsup and wife Gay of Prospect, Mary Helen Green and husband Gerald of Springfield, MO, Joyce Lee Boswell and husband Joel of Lewisport, Roy Gene Alsup of Owensboro, Larry Wayne Alsup and wife Donna of Piedmont, S. C., and Jewell Faye Payne of Owensboro, 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 23, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
