Mary Lucy Cecil Adams, 85, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at her home, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born December 5, 1938, in Owensboro to the late Anthony “Tony” Cecil and Lucy Perry Hayden Cecil. Lucy loved listening to classical music, Gardening, serving parishioners of the Immaculate Catholic Church. She enjoyed tutoring grade school children in their reading-literacy, for which she was awarded. Lucy loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations with family and friends. An avid reader, she loved reading and studying linguists. She enjoyed flower gardening and keeping a beautiful home. Christmas was a time for lavish decorating, surprises, and delicious food and fellowship. 

Lucy’s gifts were her endearing thoughts and conversations and her generosity; she had a flare for homemaking, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. Lucy was loved and cherished by customers, coworkers, parishioners, and friends.  

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Judy Martin, Joan Cecil, and Sister Mary Jude Cecil; brothers, Tony Cecil, James Pascal Cecil, John T. Cecil, and Michael D. Cecil. 

Lucy is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 65 years, Charles L. Adams; daughters, Joni Adams and Gina Adams Arrowood; grandchildren, Margaret L. Phillips Luecke of Evansville, Bucky Bates and Sydney Arrowood of Asheville, NC; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A time of gathering for the family and friends of Lucy Adams will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 3 until 7 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
