Marvon W. Spencer, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on September 24, 1931 in Glendale, Ky. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served for 20 years before retiring in Owensboro in 1968 as the U. S. Army Recruiting Officer. Marvon served as a juvenile probation officer for Owensboro and Daviess County. He was with a major insurance company as a liability claim supervisor until 1977. From 1991 to 2004, he served as Manager/C.F.O. for the Masonic Temple Company. He was a 50 year plus member of the Owensboro Masonic Lodge #130 F & AM where he was twice past master and was past Deputy Grand Master of District #9. He also was a lifetime member of the Western Ky. Scottish Rite in Madisonville and a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Geraldine Spencer in 1991, parents, Walter B. and Flora Mae Priddy Spencer, a stepdaughter, Mary Jo Kelly, and a stepson, Robert Izsak.

Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Mary Rose Spencer, daughter, Patricia M. Colvin and husband Kenneth, three granddaughters, Alicia Haley of Brandenburg, Leigh McManama of Louisville, and Savannah Boman of New Albany, IN, five great grandchildren, Hannah, Isaiah, Charles, and Selena Satrum, and Brittany Scott, a great great granddaughter, Lillian, a step daughter, Virginia A. Carathers of Utica, a stepson, Douglas A. Izsak of Owensboro, five step grandchildren, Caprice Steward, Chad Izsak, Jesse Izsak, Melissa and Jerad Carathers, and two step great grandchildren, Makayla and Payton Steward.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home where masonic services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Sunday.
