Marvin O. Young

Marvin O. Young, 91, of 1141 Greenbriar Road, Utica, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at his home. Mr. Young was born in Hawesville, Kentucky to the late Eldred Harvey and Minnie Dean (Gray) Young. He was educated in Hancock County and served his county in the National Guard. He was a crew leader in the pipeline department for 16 years for Texas Gas, and retired after 17 years in the power plant maintainance department. After he retired he farmed and was a bee keeper. He was a member of Utica Baptist Church, and past president of Daviess County Lions Club 1982-83 and Eyesight Chairman 1980- 1990. He was a Mason for 60 years, held the 32nd Degree and York Rite.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lily B. Young in 2001, and also brothers; Oscar, Damond, and James Louis Young, and sisters; Frances Phillips and Daisy Hawkins.

Surviving are his children; Bonnie (Michael) Rhoads of Utica, Philip (Donna) Young of New Albany, IN., and Dean (Pat) Young of Columbia, S.C., grandchildren; Jeff (Patti) Young of Corydon, IN., Robin (James) Beck of Henryville, IN., Sherri and Terri Rowland of Lexington, KY., Cyndi Duvall of Owensboro, David (Amy) Evans of Knottsville, and Paige (Chris) Alexander of South Carolina, and 7 great-grandchildren, and a brother; Chester Young of San Diego, CA.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Revs. Howard Matthews and Barry Rager officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Memorial Fund.
