Marvin Edward Sutherlin

Marvin Edward Sutherlin, 90, of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his home. He was born in Daviess County to the late Marvin Lee and Martha Enid Sutherlin and graduated from Daviess County High School.

Marvin was a farmer and an avid dark tobacco grower. He enjoyed carpentry and retired from the Charles Chip factory. He loved going to church and was a longtime member of Utica United Methodist Church. Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, showing sheep with his grandchildren and most of all, spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Janetta McBreyer.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Audrey Sutherlin; daughters, Anita Thomasson (Larry) of Utica and Ada Kathy Dame (Dennis) of Calhoun; grandchildren, Bryan K. Thomasson of Utica, Crystal L. Thomasson of Owensboro, Annetta H. Thomasson of Utica, Denise Dame Dunn of Calhoun and Scott E. Dame of Owensboro; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Renetta Carpenter of Utica; a brother-in-law, Shelby McBreyer of Philpot; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 12 Noon on Friday, January 24 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Doug Kirtley will officiate. Burial will be at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday and after 9 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
