Marvin C. Eans, Jr., 84, of 1222 Avondale Rd, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Owensboro on March 16, 1924 to the late Marvin C. and Jessie Mae Wells Eans. He was retired from the General Electric Co. as a Production Control Specialist in 1986 after 37 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served in Europe and in The Battle of The Bulge. He had been a member of Seven Hills Baptist Church for 60 years and was currently a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School at both churches and been a deacon for 50 years. He also was a member of the Gospel Seekers Quartet. While at Seven Hills Baptist Church, he designed and helped construct the "Living Christmas Tree". He was a 1941 graduate of Owensboro High School and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Marvin was a very devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Phillip Eans on Sept. 6, 1990 and his brother, Jack Eans in 2002.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Nellie J. Eans, a daughter, Marilyn E. Davis and husband Tony of Nashville, TN, daughter-in-law, Peggy Eans of Owensboro, three grandsons, Kevin Eans and wife Noreen Figueroa of New Rochelle, N.Y., Greg Eans and wife Marion Blackburn of Greenville, N.C., and Kristopher Eans and wife Nikki of Louisville, a step granddaughter, Amber Davis of Berkeley Springs, WV, two great grandchildren, Matthew C. Eans and Isabella Eans, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 16, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 Noon till 6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church.
