Marvin Newman Dejarnette

February 4, 1932 — July 14, 2003

Marvin Newman DeJarnette of 6638 Harmony Drive, Utica, KY, died Monday, July 14, 2003 at his home. A native of Hancock county, he was the son of the late Stewart and Katie Sue Newman DeJarnette.

Mr DeJarnette was a graduate of Beechmont High School in Hawesville. Retiring from the Air Force Reserve in 1992, after 20 years, he was a chief master sergeant, and served 10 years active duty including time during the Korean War. He was a former employee of Wickes Corporation in various capacities, including manager for 21 years. He worked for Lowes for three years. Currently he had been employed by the Kentucky Department of Transportation, of which he had once retired from the Hartford toll plaza in January 1997. He was a member and deacon of Masonville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Ambrose DeJarnette of Utica; a son Jason Kent DeJarnette of Owensboro; a sister Stewarty DeJarnette Kennedy of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Sydney Love Hale DeJarnette of Chatttanooga, TN; three nephews and a niece of Lewisport, a nephew in Ft. Worth, Texas and a nephew in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
