Marvin Lee Brown

Marvin Lee Brown, 71, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born July 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee and Cora Elizabeth Vincent Brown; was a retired electrician and air conditioning technician; was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War; and attended church services at the Salvation Army. Mr. Brown was extremely proud of his military service and his country and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 696 and AMVETS Post 75. He also enjoyed gospel music and country tapes, especially Johnny Cash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lee Brown and a brother, Barry Lynn Brown.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Ella May Mayes Brown; sons Tony L. Brown and Steve Ray Brown of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jeff, Zaxe, and Jake; three great-grandchildren; brothers Ernest Ray Brown and William Earl (Bill) Brown of Owensboro; sisters, Barbara (David) Wells and Wanda (Elza) Stinnett of Owensboro; step-children, Roger Peak of Hartford, Steven Peak, Gary Peak, Thomas Sims, Rita Tooley, Debbie Peak, and Kathy Martin all of Owensboro, and Sharon Hardison of Alabama; a special uncle, Harold Ray Vincent of Owensboro; and his very special friend and constant companion, Callie the cat.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens where military honors will be rendered by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
