Marty Tanner Cary

Marty Tanner Cary, 83, of 416 St. Claire Drive, Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Cary was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, the Mary Lou Phillips Sunday School Class, the Junior League of Owensboro, Womens Guild, and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was an original member of the Pantomime University Band where she was known for playing the bass fiddle, for her performance of the song Someday and her famous line One More Time. Mrs. Cary was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Haley Tanner; her brothers, Henry Lee Tanner and Judge Pat Tanner; and her sisters, Eunice Mary Stutts and Flora Bell Ellis.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Glover H. Cary, Jr.; a son, Glover H. Cary, III of Yankeetown, IN; a daughter Mary Ghee Cary Law and her husband Dale of Louisville, KY; her five grandchildren, Kim Cary McKurk, Marty Law Nichter, Glover H. Cary, IV, Cary Law Mahl and Melanie Cary Bruce; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, September 29 at 1 p.m. in the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice.
