Martine McMahan Newcomb

October 19, 1914 — March 25, 2003

Martine McMahan Newcomb, 88, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at the Hillcrest Nursing Center. The Daviess County native was a member of the South Hampton Baptist Church, a quilting club and RSV. She was retired from Wyndalls Farm Store and Western Wear. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. H. Hayward Newcomb in December , 2000 and three brothers, Melvin McMahan, Bill McMahan and George McMahan.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Newcomb of Philpot and Charles Newcomb of Henderson; a daughter, Brenda West of Bethpage, TN; a foster-daughter, Shirley Shouse of Long Beach, CA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon McMahan and Donnie McMahan of Utica; and four sisters, Mary Cilia , Dorothy Nuckols, and Bonnie Snyder all of Owensboro, and Shirley Young of Lewisport.

Funeral services are 2:30 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Brother Tim Roberts and Brother Howard Matthews will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday and after 11 A.M. on Thursday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Oneida Baptist Institute.
