Martin Louis Mattingly, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, at the Carmel Home. He was born September 30, 1928 in Daviess Co. to the late William and Lillian Ballard Mattingly. Louis was a lifelong farmer and, in his early years, he grew up in the St. Alphonsus Parish, but was currently a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Thompson Mattingly in 1971, a daughter, Suzanne Mattingly, a granddaughter, Kim Howard, brothers, William "Bill" and Herman Mattingly, sister, Joyce Blandford, and a special friend, Ruth Marks.
Surviving are his children, sons Danny Mattingly and wife Renae of Owensboro, John Mattingly and wife Amy of Owensboro, Jerry Mattingly and wife Dianna of Maceo, and Joe Mattingly and wife Leslie of Owensboro, daughters Donna Corum and husband Barry of Tulsa, OK and Vicki Howard and husband Joe of Owensboro, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, Jean Murphy of St. Joseph and Doris Schadler of Curdsville, a brother, Bobby Mattingly and wife Ann of St. Joseph, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 2, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
