Martin Frederick Krampe

Martin Frederick Krampe, 72, of Owensboro, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at his home. Martin, a native of Owensboro, was born on June 17, 1938 to the late Paul A. and Lucy (Fischer) Krampe. He graduated from Owensboro Catholic High and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a retired farmer and retired from the City of Owensboro Facilities Maintenance Department. He also drove a school bus for Daviess County Public Schools and worked at the Owensboro Tobacco Warehouse Co. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, traveling, (especially to the beach), barbequing, reading, and his daily drives with his dog, Nicholas. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul A. Krampe Jr. and Charles W. Krampe, a sister, Martha L .Krampe, and a sister-in-law, Rita Boarman.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christie Hamilton Krampe, his children, Karen (Chris) Roby, Alicia Flaim, and Martin "Butch" (Carrie) Krampe Jr. all of Owensboro, and Kristina Krampe of Danville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Christa (Alex) Hardesty, J.D. (Heather) Faith, Rachel (Derrick) Millay, Sarah Flaim, Jennifer (Cody) Throgmorton, Paul and Alex Krampe and Maya Krampe, his great-grandchildren, Emma and Ava Hardesty, Lilly and Garrett Faith, and Aiden Throgmorton, a brother, James Earl (Pat) Krampe Sr. of Owensboro, and brothers and sisters in-law, Martha Estes, Bradford (Beverly) Hamilton, Maxine Maxwell, John Boarman, Paul (Nola) Hamilton, Cindy Hamilton, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Stephen Cathedral with Fr. John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to either the Daviess County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
