Martin "Eddie" Hermann, 88, of Owensboro, peacefully passed away Wednesday, July 5 at his home. Mr. Hermann was born June 23, 1929 in Daviess County to the late Frank and Clara Hagan Hermann. Eddie graduated from the last class at St. Joe where he played basketball. He served in the army as an MP during the Korean War and then attended trade school and learned how to weld. Eddie worked in mechanical maintenance at GE and then Alcoa from where he retired. He was a devout Catholic who prayed constantly and served at Our Lady of Lourdes Parrish. Eddie was a selfless, happy, family man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed singing, fishing, golf, UK basketball, and watching old western movies.
Mr. Hermann was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Francis Hermann, in 2007; grandsons, Curtis Hermann and Joshua Logan. Eddie was the last of nine siblings to pass away.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Angela Hermann and Michelle Hager and husband Larry; sons, Mark Hermann and wife Mary and Steve C. Hermann all of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Krystal Greenawalt, Lindsey Serrano, Nathan English, Ashley Beck, Alex Cooper, and Cole Mitchell; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM to
1:30 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
