Martie Jane Martin

Martie Jane Martin, 85, of Owensboro, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born October 13, 1924 to the late Robert H. and Lynden Logsdon Woodward in Daviess County. She was a nurse at Daviess County Hospital for 27 years, Deaconess Hospital for 15 years, and taught at Lockyear Business College. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and enjoyed antiques, reading, being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Martin, Sr., on January 28, 2001, a daughter, Linda Frantz, on April 13, 2005, and two sisters, Bobbie Ann Smith and Patricia Barr Peters.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (David) Hall of Pleasant Ridge, her son, Bob (Sue) Martin of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren, Stephen Anderson, Stephanie DeYoung, Anthony Hall and Drew Hall, Eric Martin and Matthew Martin, Robbie Brown, Julie Johnson, and Josh Hagan; 23 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Bells Run Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, and after 10:00 AM Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G.
