Martha Ellen Thompson

Martha Ellen Englert Thompson, 75, of 7705 Pond River Road, Owensboro, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, after receiving her last rights.She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilary and Carrie Englert, a son, Danny Thompson Jr. and two brothers, Hilary Englert Jr. ,and Gene Englert.

Martha was a homemaker and a farmers wife, a loving mother, Mema and Grandma. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she did the bookkeeping for several years. She was a devout Catholic, devoted to the rosary, in the Army of Mary, and also an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Dan Thompson, seven children, Pat (Debbie) Thompson of Owensboro, Theresa (Doug) Roberts and Tom (Maryann) Thompson, both of Bowling Green, Phillip (Kelly) Thompson, Richard Thompson, Joe Thompson and Caroline (Jason) Elder, all of Owensboro ; 16 grandchildren, Jill (Chris), Dan, Stephanie, Ashley, Chad, Lauren, Nathan, Kathryn, Brian, Bailey, Marissa, Zachary, Logan, Justin, Garrett, and Haley. She is also survived by a special friend and caretaker, Becky Wright, two sisters, Lilly (Jack) Wilson, and Mary Elizabeth Tichenor, four brothers, Bob (Joan) Englert, Tom (Marita) Englert, Joe (Kay) Englert, Jack (Joy) Englert, three brothers-in-law, Mike (Cloa) Thompson, Jack (Kay) Thompson, Ray (Bea) Norris, six sisters-in-law, Florence Lovejoy, Pallie (Paul) Kurz, Peggy Steinsberger, Marilyn Osborne, Geraldine (Bill) Payne, Beulah (Charles) Herrell and Clara Sue Downs; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with burial in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Glenn Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 6:00 p.m., and after 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Building Fund, or to Hospice Association Inc. Memorial Fund.
