Martha Evelyn Lamar Sauter

Martha Evelyn Lamar Sauter, 99, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Tell City on September 29, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Cora Blake Lamar; was a homemaker; and was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Wayne Foust Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis Sauter in 1975; a son, William Sauter in 2009; brothers, Ralph Lamar, Paul Lamar, and Clyde Lamar; and a sister, Lois Lawalin.

Surviving are daughters, Shelba (Gerald) Vaught and Margie (Norman) Williams of Owensboro, and Judith Ray) Stevens of Hartford; a son, Donald (Betty) Sauter of Evansville; grandchildren, Leslie Vaught (Dickie) Lambert, Shannon Vaught (Steve) Rogers, Tony Sauter, Don (Joan) Sauter, Jr., Dale Sauter, Sherry (Kevin) Parma, Tammy Stevens, Connie Stevens (Eddie) Millay, and Johnny (Natalie) Sauter; thirteen great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are 12 noon Monday, August 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Chaplain Linda Haddix officiating followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Woodlawn United Methodist Church or the Humane Society.
