Martha Jean Gipe Riggs

Martha Gipe Riggs, 78, of 2886 Settle Rd., Owensboro, died Thursday, October 31, 2002 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Owensboro native was born September 9, 1924 the daughter of the late T.E. and Louise Pierce Gipe. She was a member of the First Christian Church and a charter member of the Century Christian Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Christian Womens Fellowship, Indian Lake Club, and was very active in the Girls Scouts of America. She was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Gipe.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Lee Riggs; two daughters, Barbara Riggs Latimore of
Springfield, IL, and Nancy Riggs Cox of Owensboro; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred Gipe and Donald Gipe of Owensboro.

Funeral services are 2 P.M. Sunday, November 3, 2002 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in the Masonic Garden of Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday and after 12 noon on Sunday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First Christian Church or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
