Martha Kay Mills Rhodes, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Carmel Home. She was born in Daviess Co. to the late L. K. and Helen Lingang Mills. Kay was a charter member of Immaculate Catholic Church. She worked at General Electric and retired as an administrative assistant for the Diocese of Owensboro after 33 years. She was a graduate of St. Frances Academy and received her degree from Nazareth College in Nazareth, KY. Kay was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Kay married Thomas A. "Tony" Rhodes on April 19, 1952 at St. Stephen Cathedral. They were married 61 years until his death on December 20, 2013. Preceding her in death were a son, Christopher Anthony Rhodes; a brother, Randall Mills and his wife Margaret; a sister, Sister Ann Miriam of the Passionist Community; and a brother-in-law, Joe Bissmeyer.
Surviving are her daughter, Anne R. Miller and husband Donald of Arnold, MD; two grandsons, Matthew R. Miller and wife Carson of Richmond, VA and Jacob Lee Miller of Baltimore, MD; sister, Mollie Bissmeyer of Cincinnati, OH; three brothers, Father Joe Mills, Jack Mills and wife Doris, and Bill Mills and wife Gully all of Owensboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 28, at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and from 8:30-9:30 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
