Martha Jane (Stinnett) Quisenberry passed peacefully in her sleep at the Heartford House under the care of Hospice at 12:29 am on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Born January 6, 1935, to the late Frank and Cecil Stinnett. The youngest of four children, she was preceded in death by half-brother Earl Fletcher Stinnett, beloved sisters Helen Bennett (Billy), Anna Jean Foster (B J) and niece Sally Keith.
A graduate of Owensboro High School in 1953 and Murray College in 1957, Martha earned her Bachelor Science degree in Education and began her career at Seven Hills Elementary teaching second grade. Martha met the love of her life James Everett Quisenberry in high school. The couple married on January 19, 1958, and remained married for 64 years until Jim's passing in February 2022. Soon after their marriage, the couple moved to Caracas, Venezuela, where they lived for two years. The couple have four children. Abbe Lynn Quisenberry, James Tabor Quisenberry (Vicki), John Fletcher Quisenberry and Samuel Everett Quisenberry (Nichole). Martha also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild that was given the name of Martha Jean. Martha was preceded in death by one grandchild Corey Quisenberry. Martha is further survived by her niece Carrie Bowen (John), Clay Penland; nephew, Joe Foster (Winnie) and sisters-in-laws, Marilyn Q. Baird and Sarah Quisenberry
Martha truly enjoyed being with her many friends. No matter what the occasion, social time with friends, especially playing bridge, gave her much enjoyment. Friday night couples golf, poker games, ski trips to Colorado or weekend get aways, she enjoyed them all. Martha spent many winters in Estero, Florida, where she served as social chairperson of her condominium association. A former member of the Owensboro Cotillion Club, Junior League and Ladies Golf Association. A return trip to Caracas, Venezuela, on their 25th wedding anniversary and 50th wedding anniversary celebration put on by her family and Florida friends were high points of her life.
Her faith in God remained the center point of her life being a Charter member of Century Christian Church and later a member of First Christian Church where she served as Deacon.
Martha's family would like to thank the care provided to her by Dr. Ben Keeley and his staff. A very special thank you to the staff of One Park Place, Owensboro Health, Dr. Joey Polio, Hermitage Health and Rehabilitation and Hospice of Western Kentucky.
A memorial celebration of Martha's life will be held at First Christian Church on Saturday April 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. up until the time of the service. Private interment will be in the First Christian Church columbarium.
