Martha Lynn Murphy Mayfield

Martha Lynn Murphy Mayfield, 56, of Owensboro, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at her home. Born in Daviess County on July 19, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Martin Oscar and Dona Veda Ellis Murphy. Martha was a registered nurse and worked at Mercy Hospital for over 27 years and most recently at Convenient Care. A member of Third Baptist Church , she attended the Solid Rock Sunday School Class; was active in the FISH ministry; and was on the Hospitality Committee. Martha also volunteered at the Pitino Shelter. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and especially, spend time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Gary Mayfield; a daughter, Ashley Wigginton and her husband, Chris Wigginton, of Owensboro, Ky; five brothers, James Martin Murphy of Valparasio, In., Charles Ellis Murphy of Portage, In., Larry Wayne Murphy, Samuel Lewis Murphy, and Gary Lee Murphy all of Owensboro, Ky.; three sisters, Jane Murphy Johnson of Philpot, Ky, Donna Murphy Powers and Sandra Murphy Camp both of Owensboro, Ky; one grandchild, Caleb Wigginton, of Owensboro, Ky; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Third Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. James K. Byrd and Rev. Todd Camp. Entombment will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, April 12, 2004 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and after 9 A.M. Tuesday at the church.
