Martha Wagner Mattingly, 95, of Yelvington passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016. Born in Owensboro, the daughter of the late William Henry and Elvra Ann Taylor Wagner, she graduated from Owensboro High School, where she played the clarinet and oboe, in 1938. In 1930 Mrs. Mattingly joined First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where she was a member of the Friendship Class, and had played piano for the early worship service and her Sunday school class. She had worked at Ken-Rad, where she played piano in the company orchestra, and for Gardner Insurance. Mrs. Mattingly had also played for services at Seven Hills Baptist Church and the WOMI radio show "Mary and Martha". She was a member of Saturday Musicale. She enjoyed farming and raising cattle. Her husband, Joseph A. Mattingly, preceded her in death in 2004.
Mrs. Mattingly is survived by her daughter Ann M. Boone and her granddaughter Valarie Ann Boone, both of Yelvington.
Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be private, followed by burial at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Memorial Fund of First Christian Church or the charity of one's choice.
