Martha B. Long

Martha B. Long, 93, of Lewisport, formerly of Owensboro, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. She was born April 2, 1915 to the late Dr. P. L. and Mary Chaney Berkshire in Hancock County. Martha was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, and had played the piano and organ for the Lewisport and St. Andrews Presbyterian Churches for many years. She was past Noble Grand of the John B. Hinkle Rebecca Lodge #39 of Owensboro, and enjoyed working with crafts of all kinds and listening and playing music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Long.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary L. Kortz and husband, Robert M. of Goldenrod, FL, Virginia L. Bruner of Lewisport and husband, William H. Bruner; a grandson, Scott A. Bruner of Las Vegas, NV; special friends, the Caddell family of Florence, KY, Mary M. Hawkins, Faye M. Wettstain, both of Lewisport, and Dr. Heath M. Hawkins of Nashville, TN.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Lewisport Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday, and after 12:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
